Stress Less

It is officially Summer and I am probably not the only one who didn't even realize it. First of all, it's already June, what the heck? Second of all, for the past two weeks it has been tsunami season in Texas so can you blame me for thinking summertime actually meant being able to see the sun? In my perfect world, Summer consists of bottomless margs and hours at the pool. Unfortunately, reality regularly reminds me that I do not in fact live in a fantasy world and that adulting never takes a vacay. 

These next few months are when we least expect to be stressed out. But, if you're crazy like me and completely over extend yourself, chances are you will be relating to that Twenty One Pilots song in more ways than one. If you're in the same boat as I am and find yourself needing some de-stressing inspiration, look no further - I got you!

1. "Me" Time

If you're the type of person who has to-do lists longer than the Great Wall of China, i'm just going to guess that you aren't making time for yourself. "Me" time is so crucial to avoiding stress because it helps prevent you from burning out. My "me" time is working out. Not only does exercise give me the chance to clear my mind and listen to my go to playlist on repeat, in the words of the great Elle Woods: Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't. So, it's safe to say that my non-existent husband is alive and well.

2. Guilty Pleasure TV

Sometimes you just need to pour yourself a big glass of wine and binge on a few episodes of that show you never admit to watching (you know the one.)

3. Clean

I'm not sure if I'm alone in this, but for me, cleaning (especially cleaning my kitchen) is my fool-proof solution to any problem. The problem isn't necessarily gone by the time I'm finished cleaning, but you can bet I have five different courses of action by the time I'm done. And in my opinion, there are few things in life better than having a clean kitchen.

4. Pamper Yourself

There is just something so soothing about having a DIY spa night. It's everything you love about the spa but you don't have to leave the house (seriously if this isn't having your cake and eating it too, than what is?) I have a not so small obsession with DIY pampering so of course I have an entire board dedicated to this on my Pinterest.

5. Take a Nap

When I am so burnt out and stressed beyond repair that I don't want to think or go anywhere, the only thing that never fails me is my bed. I am a true believer in the power of naps and "sleeping on it." Life may seem too overwhelming with no way out when you are running 1%. When in doubt nap, nap, and nap some more.
