SUMMER OF 2016 STAPLES

We are in the last stretch of Summer and honestly I haven't been this sad to see a season go since Elementary School. Technically Summer ends in the middle of September, but since my mind associates school and my birthday with that month I'm already in pre-fall mode.

This season has been all about minimal makeup, for me, and I definitely didn't mind. I usually don't talk much about my favorite products or makeup on this blog, but I wanted to share a few of my Summer of 2016 Staples.

FYI, this list is in no particular order (basically just writing these down as they pop into my head.)

My first favorite item has been none other than the Queen of Beauty Vloggers' newest addition to the Champagne Pop family: Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Splits Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Mineral Blush Duo (in Champagne Pop and Flowerchild.) My favorite thing about this product is that it's a one stop shop. It's no secret that I am all about convenience (aka I'm lazy.) I can just open this split pan and have everything that I need (make-up wise) for my cheeks. Also this is great if you are in a rush and you possibly need to apply your makeup in the car (not that I have any experience in this. AT ALL.) This was absolutely one of my top go-to make-up items this Summer.

My next favorite is not exactly a make-up product but what I like to use when my skin is in need of some major rescue. I actually stumbled upon this product at HEB. I was grocery shopping and saw a sample of this mask and decided to give it a try. Obviously I liked it (since I sprung for the full size.) Some advice: if you haven't tried face masks from the grocery store, definitely try them out - some of the best masks that I own. This mask is awesome for so many reasons. 1. It's so soothing 2. It has FOUR uses (a mask, an exfoliator, a cleanser, and a toner.) I have made practically everyone in my life try this mask and they all love it. A mask that is extremely affordable, convenient, and has apple cider vinegar (which has so many incredible benefits) is top-notch in my book.

My next Summer Staple is both a make-up product and a product of convenience. I have always been a fan of Kat Von D's products, but I was always an ABH girl when it came to my brows. I got the chance to try this product earlier this year and I forgot just how fast and amazing it was until I found it a couple months ago. At first, I was intimidated by the packaging (since it looks exactly like her Tattoo Liner, but in brown.) Once I tried her Tattoo Brow, I was hooked. The felt tip is fine enough to effectively imitate my brow hairs, but pigmented enough to fill in spots as well. Also, one of my deal-breakers with brow products is it's lasting power. This brow pen lasts through a long Summer day in South Texas (95% humidity included.) I've found myself only reaching for Brow Wiz when I can't find my Tattoo Brow, and that's saying something.

If you know anything about me, you know my long-time obsession with nail products (my friends literally come over and pick out nail polish like I'm a nail salon.) My next favorite has been on my nails constantly this Summer and, even though rose gold is more of a summertime color, I probably will continue to wear this year round. Formula X's Revved Up is described as a rose gold metallic and I feel like this color and formula is so versatile. This color lasts for such a long time and is the perfect rose gold shimmer without the chunks of glitter most metallic polishes have. Yet another nail brand to add to my polish addiction (and I couldn't recommend it more.)

This next favorite isn't exactly recent but I replaced mine this Summer and I couldn't be happier. The Fresh cosmetic line has an incredible amount of hype online, and for good reason. The only con about the Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment, in my opinion, is how fragile the actual balm is. You have to be very gentile when applying this product but the pros by far outweigh the cons. This lip balm has 15 SPF, a slight tint that gives your lips the perfect rosy color, and can salvage even the most chapped lips instantly. This lip balm is on the pricier side but the deluxe sample of this product is constantly included in Sephora's online promotions (so definitely keep your eyes on that mobile offers section of their app if you're interested.)

Living in San Antonio during the summer is no joke. 95°+ weather and minimum 80% humidity makes it hard for you hair not to be frizz-central 100% of the time. This product has literally been my saving grace this Summer. The Hydrate + Defrizz Kukuí Oil Anti-Frizz Hydrating Oil from OGX is kukui oil in a spray form that helps smooth and repel even the worst humidity. The only thing about this spray is you need to be very careful how much you use, the tiniest amount does the trick.

This next summer staple is a relatively new product. I have always wanted to try bb creams but have always heard that they aren't the best for oily skinned girls. When CoverGirl announced their newest summer foundation/bb cream I was completely on board to try it out. The CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream has the skin benefits of a bb cream combined with medium-full coverage and a matte finish. Another thing I really love about this product is that most CoverGirl foundations break my skin out immediately, but this bb cream leaves my sensitive skin alone. Who doesn't love a barely there foundation coverage with a matte finish? Honestly, this was definitely my favorite product of the summer.

{What are some of your Summer of 2016 staples?}
