Farmer's Markets and State Parks

This past Saturday was the seventh annual Jammin' Jams Fruit and Nut Tree Adoption at The Pearl. Basically, every year the City of San Antonio's Parks and Recreation department gives away trees to whoever shows up. Unfortunately, I arrived too late and all of the trees were gone. But, I stayed for the weekly farmer's market, which was so incredible. I had always wanted to check it out but never got around to it.

One of the best things about the farmer's market was all of the DOGS. Literally, there were dogs everywhere! I was obsessed.

It really is so awesome that every Saturday and Sunday all of these booths come out and bring local produce and products to the community. There was everything from coffee and homemade tortillas to jams and homegrown vegetables.

No event at The Pearl is complete without some sort of music. As soon as you entered the market, you could hear an acoustic guitar and soon saw a local singer-songwriter performing in the middle of the closed-off street. If you ventured past the booths, there was also an extremely talented musician near The Pearl Stable.

Next year I will definitely make sure that I arrive earlier so I can be a proud owner of a City of San Antonio fruit tree!

I decided to take full advantage of the gorgeous and extremely typical January weather (at least for Texas) and went hiking at McKinney Falls State Park.

And of course I had to take a picture of this adorable golden!
